Kwefaako Development Initiative – KDI is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) which was founded by a group of college students from Mengo Senior School. The idea behind the organization was to create a platform where they could converge with fellow alumni and walk through life together. The KDI journey began with six initial members but has then grown steadily to over 100 members. The name Kwefaako was got from a local dialect which is a verb that means to care for one another.
The CBO is strategically situated at Katwe a famous business centre for small scale businesses and innovators. The core mandate of the CBO is to impact lives of both the members and the community through creating employment opportunities for the youths, instilling a work and savings culture amongst the members. KDI also mobilizes youths under joint investments to tackle unemployment and also runs practical skills training in form of workshops in the areas of business, finance and leadership.

KDI is an inclusive organization with special emphasis on socio economic transformation. As a CBO our core areas of specialty are economic empowerment with special bias towards the youth & women, soft skills development within the members of the community and business development particular to micro enterprises
